Life as a Refugee in Switzerland
Despite difficulties, Hansjörg A. Salmony was able to remain in Switzerland as an immigrant and study at the University of Basel. He eventually received his Dr. Phil. under the guidance of Hermann Schmalenbach in 1948 with a dissertation entitled "Die Philosophie des jungen Herder" (Minors: German Philology and General Theory of Law). In 1949, he married Madeleine Huber from Basel. Their son Claude was born in 1951, their daughter Michèle in 1955.
